Do you have the right payroll system in place? And how does your payroll system work for you? What was perfect 3, 5 or 10 years ago is not necessarily the right thing today. The world is moving (thankfully) forward, and it's important to keep up with the times. It is also important to keep up to date, both on technology and possible solutions. But how do you know when it's time to do something about your payroll system? We give you here a list of 7 signals you should be aware of. If you find that one or more of these points hit you, it's time to make an assessment. Maybe it's time to change the payroll system?

7 signals that it is time to change the payroll system

  1. The payroll system should be an invisible and well-functioning machinery – someone at all talks about the payroll system, payroll payments, or the payroll function is somewhat probably wrong.
  2. The payroll system is a tool in the payroll solution – can you as a responsible affirm that the current solution is robust, provides the right quality and has the lowest possible cost, or is there potential for improvement?
  3. From internal processes to external technology to outsourcing,is today's setup of processes and technology ideally adapted? Or is there potential for improvement?
  4.  Are the integrations between the current payroll system and other internal and external systems hassle-free and effective? And do they give you full control over data flow and clear location of master data?
  5. Is there potential for improvements in processes where the payroll system is the source of information – reports, accounting, compliance with laws and regulations, statistics?
  6. Does your payroll provider ensure that your payroll system is continuously and automatically kept up to date in accordance with new laws and regulations and associated requirements and procedures?
  7. Is today's solution "future proof" – robust and adaptable for future changes in and for your business?
