Kværnland Group Klepp

The Jæren-based company Kverneland recently turned 140 years old. The company is one of the world's largest manufacturers of plows and other agricultural implements. The group has production in several countries, but the plows are produced on Jæren, where Kverneland has about 500 employees. The company is owned by Japanese Kubota, which is investing long-term in the well-known brand Kverneland. Sariba has introduced shift planning in SAP at Kverneland Group Klepp, so that managers can get a better overview of shift plans and planned absences among their employees.

A solid manufacturing company

Kverneland Group's headquarters and production facilities are located exactly where Ole Gabriel Kverneland founded his forging business in 1879. He had a strong belief in innovation and developed, together with his team, a plow that was particularly well suited for the difficult ground conditions of the Norway. In cooperation with several steel producers, they developed new steel types, which led to robust plows and a very good reputation.

140 years later, Kverneland is still a manufacturing company, and this is reflected in the way its employees work. In production, employees work several different shifts. Primarily these are 2-shift arrangements, but some employees are part of 3-shift arrangements. Due to different types of absence and adjustments in production, there is often a need for changes in shift schedules. This has previously been handled by managers sending an email to HR, who then manually changed this in SAP. This was a process that was unnecessarily laborious and could lead to the system taking time to be updated.

In the autumn of 2018, a new management portal in NWBC was introduced at Kverneland. In this connection, it was decided that consideration should be given to how changes in staffing in production could be made more flexible. The result was that Sariba set up shift planning in SAP as part of the managers' toolbox .

Overview, savings and freed up time

The introduction of shift planning in SAP has given the leaders a good overview of their teams . They know who works when, and they have an overview of absences in a neat picture. Managers can also easily register absences and update the system with both sporadic and more long-term changes in work plans.

After the introduction of SAP Shift planning, the managers in Kverneland have an up-to-date overview and they make updates themselves. All this ensures the right payroll to the employee and the workload on HR is reduced.

Kverneland is pleased with Sariba's delivery and the introduction of shift planning. They say that overall time spent has decreased, which has resulted in financial savings.
